Information: Beautiful Dreamer
Lisa Imai :: 🛡️Dreamer Rhodonite
Age: 19
Appearance and Manner: (Visual reference.) Somewhat shorter than average, about five feet; long brown hair, greenish-gray eyes, fair skin. Tends toward dresses and shorter skirts, and bright colors, including a number of things she's made herself, and can often be found with her favorite, excessively fluffy red scarf, if it's in season. Sometimes carries a gig bag containing her bass guitar; alternately, often carries a two-tone canvas tote bag, undyed on top and the same color as the starsand in her Sandglass, a dull reddish-pink, on the bottom third. That Sandglass is usually clipped to the side of whatever bag she is carrying, usually her tote if there's more than one. Light jewelry, usually understated earrings and a bangle or similar, and light makeup. Approachable and outwardly open. Has a faint smell of vanilla, probably from the baking that she does all the time - there are probably cookies in her bag right now. Her bright tone carries well; you can hear her from across the room. Somewhat jumpy if surprised or nervous. Gets anxious easily, and has trouble staying positive when she is. Big Mom Friend Energy otherwise; here, have a cookie.
Occupation: University freshman.
Location: Lives with Junna in Karen's spare bedroom, in an upscale building in Koubai. Not well-appointed, not private, and hellishly small for two girls, but it's theirs, and that's enough for her right now. Looking to move out.
Condition: Stressed. Recovering from Ai's Disturbance; taking it a day at a time. Unsettled by the recent earthquake.
Dreamer Basics: (Visual reference, though not quite the same.) No signifcant physical changes; Rhodonite's hair is longer, to her waist, and is a washed-out red that's pink in the right light, and her eyes shift to a pastel green. She wears a dull red, low-cut dress that yields to cream frills that flutter in the breeze and reach almost to her knees, and dark stockings. Her weapon is her bass, with a difficult-to-identify dark grain of wood on the neck and a clear crystal body filled with starsand in an almost-salmon color, worn strapped over her back when not actively wielded.
Archetype: 🛡️Sentry.
Powers:
- Fuzz C, a defensive power that changes perception of presence. Rhodonite can blend into the background to bleed attention away from herself, or make herself stand out more to capture attention; in either case, she generally appears normally to allied Dreamers. Good for managing aggro in combat, sneaking around, or providing cover. Rhodonite's actions are not entirely ignored via this effect: if she pulls too much attention she stops blending in, and if she's too passive she stops drawing attention to herself.
- Distortion B, a defensive power that projects protective walls of condensed sound. Rhodonite strums her bass - or shouts or sings, but it's less effective - and produces a wave of warped sound strong enough to deflect projectiles, solid, energy, or otherwise. Breaks fragile objects; other projectiles and physical attacks blocked are turned aside, not destroyed. Pinpoint blocks may reflect projectiles back where they came from. Great for push blocking, and serviceable for larger attacks and melee. Covers the area in front of Rhodonite in a shallow dome shape, and so shields the space behind her, more or less in a narrow cone. Rhodonite can generate up to one shield that holds in place without her, and maintain an additional shield with active concentration and play, but can do other things while maintaining that shield; the total shield output of Distortion is split between all her shields. Visually, Distortion barriers are the same pale-red as the rest of her magic, and the edges pulse with a harsh fuzz in time with the music she's playing, the edge sweeping faintly inward, particles of light in the shape of music notes trailing behind it like embers fading as they cool.
- Harmony D, a passive support power. When other Dreamers use music-, dance-, rhythm-, or performance-based attacks, actions or Powers around her, Rhodonite's magic resonates with those abilities, getting her and get companions' blood pumping and helping her set (or keep) the pace without having to think about it. The entire group's sense of rhythm is improved, slightly increasing accuracy and attack power, and the effectiveness of musical actions. Affects Signature Abilities except Rhodonite's, at this Rank. Losing herself in the music helps Rhodonite get over herself and fight with less anxiety. While Rhodonite is in Harmony, her musical Powers can be activated by joining the performance she's in the middle of, even if that's not with her bass (and even if she doesn't have her bass).
- Vibrato C, an offensive, ranged attack power. Rhodonite's bass sound ripples outward as a volley of dull-red, wavy bolts, striking one or more enemies within medium range. Damage falloff is fairly severe. Travels at the speed of sound (figuratively, at least) for high accuracy! Extremely limited homing capacity in exchange - lead your targets, Lisa. Damage is above average at this Rank, not that she's meant to be the DPS Dreamer. Deals bonus damage to things that vibrate or shatter at high frequencies. Can also be set to low-damage mode.
- Phaser D, a short-range, damaging crowd control power. Rhodonite channels energy through her bass, causing it to briefly shine with an inner red glow, and casts it out in a roughly 60° cone of concussive force in front of her. Deals moderate damage to all targets in range; shoves targets roughly the size and weight of the average Dreamer or less in a powerful, sharp burst, giving her breathing room, and deals bonus damage to things that vibrate or shatter at high frequencies. If a target is pushed into a wall or other hard surface, reduces its Movement by 1 next turn; if pushed into a railing or off an edge, it must save itself from falling. Allies and Rhodonite's shields are treated as walls. Doesn't push or damage allies. Limited vertical effectiveness; aerial use OK.
- Overdream E, Rhodonite's Signature Ability. Rhodonite's magic flares outward in a rich, vibrant red, circling her in a ring before being reabsorbed into herself, dyeing her hair a more vivid crimson and making the accents on her dress sparkle, and causing the starsand in her bass to glow with light. Rhodonite rocks out on her bass with a passionate rhythm, briefly taking over the arrangement if she's playing with anyone else, as she gathers attention and power. Her bass's shine grows before shooting out in a bright burst into the air, taking the shape of that very instrument, tall as a house and made of sparkling red light. With a push of her magic, it swings like a huge axe at one target within medium range, body-first, hitting with the unmistakable twang of an electric string instrument contacting a hard object in a very final and satisfying way. It deals severe damage that purifies to that target, and carries the additional effects of any of her other Powers that were active or used within the last turn, such as bonus damage or accuracy buffs. The visual changes persist until she awakens, Rhodonite burning all her remaining magic to keep her output high; she might be able to tease more utility out of this state at higher Ranks. Requires her Sandglass bass to be in hand (even in Harmony) and Rhodonite to be able to play. If she's already playing, she doesn't need to stop what she's doing - she can just start channeling her Signature Ability when she wants to use it.
